The Shelter Dog

What is a "Special Adopt"?

All our animals are special of course, but at the shelter, you'll see a number of dogs designated as "special adoptions." When adopting one of these dogs, we require the adopter to commit to taking the dog through a dog-training class or appropriate canine behavior consultation. All of the following dogs are designated as special adoptions: (1) dogs under 1-year of age; (2) dogs that are Pit Bulls or Pit mixes; and (3) other dogs that the CCHS staff have determined will have an increased chance of success if they are provided some structured guidance and/or training.
