I adopted Maeve last February (2005) but her name at the time was Gibbons.  I was a little apprehensive to adopt a pit bull mix but from all of the reading that I did before making my decision I realized that with the proper home and a committed owner pit bulls can be AMAZING companions.

We went to 2 sessions of puppy classes.  Maeve plays at the park every night with 4 other dog friends (3 pit bull mixes and a bulldog, all the pit bulls are rescues) and they get along beautifully.  She also runs with me, and actually ran a 10k road race with me this morning, and she came in as the 2nd dog!

She also has a kitten friend (Bobby - who my roommate adopted about a month ago from a Chicago shelter) and they are best friends.  She is an amazing companion, is incredibly cuddly, and is very obedient.  I think that like any other dog, the amount of exercise she gets is a major factor in her good behavior.  At first I didn't like to tell people that she has pit bull in her but now I tell people with pride that she is a boxer/ pit bull mix.

I had to include one of Maeve and her dog friends too!  Also, I am assuming you're gonna put that they're both humane society animals on the card but also I would love it if you put Maeve's breed.  I am very proud of the fact that she is part pit bull and I like to tell people to do my little part in dispelling stereotypes of the nature of the breed!

Side note as well, both of the other dogs in the picture of the 3 playing are humane society animals and both are half pit bull (one of them had been used as a bait dog and now just about 6 months later is so friendly and well adjusted!)

p.s.  the pictures where Maeve is "hugging" Bobby were NOT STAGED I swear!
