What is Mutt Strut?

Mutt Strut is a dog walk where you and your canine companion can raise money to benefit the Champaign County Humane Society. There will also be activities, games and contests for you and your dog to enjoy!

How do you participate?

Ask family members, friends and coworkers to make a pledge to sponsor you and your dog. You can collect donations from them, and mail checks to us with the registration form provided here. If you prefer to register and collect donations on-line instead, you can solicit and track donations through FirstGiving.

Using FirstGiving is also a walk in the park! Just follow these instructions:

  1. Go to FirstGiving.com/cuhumane
  2. Click “Get Started”
  3. Register for the event
  4. Enter your email address
  5. Enter your address and choose a password
  6. Set up your FirstGiving page—use your own words and photos, too, if you’d like
  7. Send your FirstGiving page to your family and friends
  8. Raise money for the homeless animals at the Champaign County Humane Society!!!

Sponsor a shelter mutt!

Just go to www.firstgiving.com/fidotheshelterdog and donate $30 using your credit card, or send a check to Mutt Strut 2008, Champaign County Humane Society, 1911 E. Main, Urbana, IL 61802.

Mutt Strut Activities

8:00 a.m. Check-in begins (coffee and donuts for early birds while supplies last!)

8:45 a.m. Blessing of the animals

9:00 a.m. Walk begins

9:45 a.m. Canine activities— agility, lure
course, painting, Ask the Behaviorist—experts will be available until 11:30 to answer questions about your dog’s behavior. Limit 10 minutes, please.

10:30 a.m. Contests for humans and dogs - egg race, best trick, most unusual trick, best handshake, best owner/dog look alike, fastest tail wag.

The Rules

All dogs must be on a standard (6-foot) leash (retractable leashes will not be allowed.)

Proof of rabies vaccination is required at check-in (current tag or certificate.)

CCHS reserves the right to prohibit participation of any dog displaying aggressive behavior toward people or other dogs.

More than one person may accompany each registered dog.

Dog handlers must be at least 18 years old.

Participants must clean up after their dogs.

Centennial Park is on Kirby Avenue between Mattis Avenue and Duncan Avenue in SW Champaign. (Kirby Avenue is Florida Avenue in Urbana.)
