Giant Garage Sale Benefits Homeless Pets

Basement, attic and garage all full? Wondering what to do with so much wonderful stuff? YouÕre in luck! The annual Champaign County Humane Society Giant Garage Sale Extravaganza is set for Friday, May 26th and Saturday, May 27th at Kesler Hall on the Champaign County Fairgrounds. The sale runs from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, May 26 and 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Saturday, May 27. The sale re-opens at 1 p.m. for the $1 Bag Sale, which goes until 3 p.m. Donations of new and used items are welcome. Large appliances, furniture and old computer equipment cannot be accepted. Retailers are welcome to donate unwanted stock from their inventories. All donations will be accepted at Kesler Hall during the following times only:

With strong support from volunteers and community members, CCHS's 1999 Giant Garage Sale raised over $25,000 to help the homeless pets at the Humane Society. Call 217-344-7297 for more information or to ask about volunteering for this event.

Founded in 1951, the Champaign County Humane Society is a private not-for-profit organization. The CCHS strives to prevent cruelty to animals, to promote animal welfare, and to educate the public about the humane care and treatment of animals. The Humane Society is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The CCHS adoption process includes application approval and a one-day waiting period before a pet can be taken home. Fees for pet adoption are $45 for cats and kittens and $60 for dogs and puppies.
