Calling all Canines

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Put your best paw forward to raise money for the Champaign County Humane Society from 8:30 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, September 9 at Centennial Park, Champaign. This gone to the dogs day features Agility and Flyball demonstrations, games for humans and dogs, great raffle prizes Ð including a year of Iams pet food Ð and a one- or two-mile fun walk.

All participants will receive a Doggy Bag filled with dog-gone good stuff. Participants must raise a minimum of $25 to enter the event. Champaign County Humane Society Executive Director Stephen J, Notaro says he hopes that all participants are able to raise at least $75. "The shelter takes in over 5,000 homeless pets each year" Notaro says. "All money from this event goes directly to help these pets in need."

There are also great prizes for raising $75, $100, $250 and $500, including t-shirts, free digital cable from AT&T Cable and gift certificates for Prairieland Feeds.

Registration forms are available at the Humane Society, Petsmart and Prairieland Feeds, along with several area businesses and veterinary clinics. Completed registration forms and donations must be brought to Bark in the Bark on September 9. Owners will be required to show proof of their dogÕs vaccines, and all canine participants must be on a four- or six-foot leash at all times.

Proud sponsors for the Third Annual Bark in the Park are WCIA, Prairieland Feeds, Iams, ATT&T Media Services, Coca-Cola, Petsmart, WHMS Lite Rock 97.5, and the Champaign County Humane Society. Call 344-7297 for more information.
