Keep Your Eye on the Ball

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The bark of the town is happening on Friday, November 1 at the Hawthorn Suites in Champaign when Doug Wilson of TLC's hit show Trading Spaces joins the Champaign County Humane Society for its third annual Dinner and Auction, A Fetching Ball. The event features silent and live auctions, and is presented by the Hawthorn Suites and Twin City Honda BMW. Cocktails and the silent auction begin at 6:30 p.m., dinner is served at 7:30 p.m., and the live auction starts at 8:30 p.m. Reservations are $50 per person, and are required by October 28. All proceeds benefit the homeless pets at the Champaign County Humane Society.

These are just a few of the items up for auction: $2,500 gift certificate to Lowe's; A room of furniture from This Is It in Champaign; A custom set of engraved Ping irons and golf bag; Trip to Los Angeles for a taping of the Dr. Phil show; Anniversary Harley Davidson jacket; Artwork from Larry Kanfer and Brad LaPayne; Trips to Chicago, Wisconsin and South Carolina; And much, much more! For more information, or to make a reservation, contact Ann at 217-344-9314 or email Ann@cuhumane.org.

Doug Wilson is a Champaign County native whose work as a decorative artist and designer has been celebrated in The New York Times, Elle Decor and House & Garden - and now on Trading Spaces. His background in the theatrical arts has given him a unique vision, helping him forge a new way of seeing through the imaginative use of paint, pencils and unusual found objects. Doug's Trading Spaces homeowners find themselves in the company of famous clients, such as Brooke Astor and Liza Minnelli - although we suspect their budgets were a bit higher than the $1,000 allowed on Trading Spaces.

The Humane Society adoption process includes application approval and a one-day waiting period before a pet can be taken home. Adoption fees are $55 for cats and kittens and $65 for dogs and puppies. The adoption fee includes a microchip, collar and ID tag and most vaccinations. Founded in 1951, the Champaign County Humane Society is a private not-for-profit organization. The Humane Society strives to prevent cruelty to animals, to promote animal welfare, and to educate the public about the humane care and treatment of animals. The Humane Society is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Call 344-7297 for more information
