Press Release Champaign County Humane Society Contact: Ann Strohmeyer, Marketing Director November 14, 2002 Help a Homeless Pet Find a Home This Holiday Season Rosco, Mr. Purrpants and Zinger have their very short Holiday wish lists completed. All these pets and their friends at the Champaign County Humane Society want is a new home this holiday season and theyre sure their wish will come true at the Champaign County Humane Societys Home for the Holidays Adopt-a-thon. This special event begins Friday, December 6 and continues through Sunday, December 8. The Humane Society also has special extended hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. More than 250 pets are available for adoption, including cats, dogs, bunnies and guinea pigs. This is a great opportunity to bring a new pet into the home before the holidays says Executive Director Stephen J. Notaro. Its our hope that these wonderful pets will be able to receive Holiday gifts instead of being the Holiday gift. Gift certificates are also available. Already have a pet? Not looking for a furry family member? You can still make a homeless pets wish come true by donating much-needed supplies. This Holiday season the animals at the Humane Society have lots of things on their special wish list, including Iams, Science Diet or Friskies pet food (both canned and dry), hard chew toys, paper towels, cotton balls, unflavored Pedialyte and cotton towels. Founded in 1951, the Champaign County Humane Society is a private not-for-profit organization. The CCHS strives to prevent cruelty to animals, to promote animal welfare, and to educate the public about the humane care and treatment of animals. The Humane Society is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The CCHS adoption process includes application approval and a one-day waiting period before a pet can be taken home. Fees for pet adoption are $55 for cats and kittens and $65 for dogs and puppies.
