Press Release

Urbana, Il- Keep your eye out for a six foot tall dog running loose at Market Place Mall this weekend. Eye witness accounts say that the dog is very nice, waves at people, walks around the mall and apparently works for the Champaign County Humane Society.
On Friday from 3-5, Saturday from 10-12,2-4 and 5-7 and Sunday from 1-5 a giant dog will be walking around Market Place Mall to remind people that the humane society will be having an adoption event in front of JC Penney on Sunday. From 3-5 on Sunday, the humane society will be handing out educational materials, answering questions and talking to potential adopters. Several dogs and cats as well as smaller critters will be there all with the hopes of getting adopted. “We were trying to think of a way to bring some attention to some of the hundreds of pets that are at the humane society waiting to be adopted.” said Jason Smith, Executive Director of CCHS. “Then it hits us. What’s better at getting noticed than a six foot tall dog!”
CCHS, located at 1911 E. Main St., Urbana, one mile east of the intersection of Main Street and Cunningham Avenue, is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
CCHS, incorporated in 1951 by a diverse group of local citizens who cared deeply about animals, is not a government body and is not supported by tax dollars. CCHS is an "open door" shelter and accepts all animals needing shelter, regardless of age, physical condition or adoptability. As a local, not-for-profit charity, we exist through the generosity of many individuals and businesses and are supported by a community that cares.
