Urbana, IL-The Champaign County Humane Society’s Home for the Holidays Adoptathon is in full swing and pets are being adopted in droves.  Champaign County residents are coming through for hundreds of pets residing at the humane society.  Three hours into the Adoptathon, 10 pets have been adopted.  “It has been really busy here this morning but we need to keep this up to set our record of 70 adoptions this weekend” said Jason Smith, Executive Director.  “Now is the perfect time to adopt a pet before the holidays.  New pets need time to get accustomed to their environments before the whirlwind of the holidays are upon you.” Smith said.

Cats like   are waiting for someone to give them a home this holiday season.

CCHS, located at 1911 E. Main St., Urbana, one mile east of the intersection of Main Street and Cunningham Avenue, is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

CCHS, incorporated in 1951 by a diverse group of local citizens who cared deeply about animals, is not a government body and is not supported by tax dollars. CCHS is an "open door" shelter and accepts all animals needing shelter, regardless of age, physical condition or adoptability. As a local, not-for-profit charity, we exist through the generosity of many individuals and businesses and are supported by a community that cares.
