Urbana Park District Dog Park - Being social creatures, dogs love to interact - both with the humans they live with and with other dogs. A dog park is a fenced area where dogs can exercise and socialize without having to remain on a leash. With all the things they do for us, shouldn't we treat them to a play date once in a while?

Animal Rescue Organizations

Crosswinds Equine Rescue - OUR MISSION GOALS: 1. To rescue at risk horses, bring them back to good health and condition, retrain them and help them learn to be "normal horses" again, and place them in good quality homes to live out normal lives. 2. Help educate horsemen in proper care, training, riding instruction, and particularly owner education when an animal would otherwise be at risk of neglect or other mismanagement. 3. Increase public awareness of horse slaughter, neglect and abuse. 4. Place horses with sufficient adoption fees to ensure a good home, as well as ensure funding to support those not yet ready for placement.

Feathered Friends Avian Rescue & Rehab - Who we are: As the "Feathered Friends" part of our name indicates, companion birds are our passion and focus. Our goal is to improve the lives of companion birds and their people families. As a rescue, we accept birds surrendered by owners from a diverse number of situations, ranging from abusive and neglectful homes to the homes of the most loving of owners whose own life situations leave them unable to care for their companions any longer. The birds we rescue, we test and provide any and all veterinary assistance. Second, we seek to rehabilitate both birds and their owners in order to alleviate problems that cause distress between them. If you have a bird you love, but are having compatability problems, we may be able to determine the cause of the undesirable behavior. Once the problem is diagnosed, we will cover solutions, and will follow up later to check on your progress.

Hands 4 Paws - Our mission is to work with the public and government to facilitate the legal and humane protection of domestic companion animals in Douglas County.
