CCHS Volunteer Newletter

February 2003

To Volunteer Opportunities and an application to download

Hello Everyone! The year is well under way now, and we have started out on
a good note- we placed 231 animals into new homes in January, which is
usually one of the slowest months! Cat Socializers will be happy to know
that Jafar, Marvin and Fuzz Ball found homes last month; and Dogwalkers will
be glad to hear that Floyd, 'Ol Girl and Kelley found homes. Its always
nice to see animals that have waited for so long finally find the home the
deserve.

If you have worked with the Front Desk staff, you will want to congratulate
Stacey- she got into Culinary School! Unfortunately, this means she will be
leaving us soon. Her last day will be Saturday, February 15th. We are all
happy for her, but we hate to see her go!

I am looking for volunteers willing to work with the cats out at Petsmart
during the week. You will need to work a 2 hour shift, once a month, if not
more. You will socialize with the cats (they don't get out of the cages
much there) and you will help people that are interested in adopting the
cats out there. Please let me know if you would be interested in a shift.

The deadline to sign up for the Adoption Counselor class is Friday, February
7th. The classes will be on February 16th and 23rd (both Sundays) from 4:30
to 6:30. There is still room in the class so don't forget to sign up if you
are interested!

I have a few reminders for everyone:
-If you are a lab tech or an adoption counselor, please remember to notify
us if you will not be in for your regular shift.
-If you socialize the cats, please remember to clean out the brushes if you
use them. Also, please return the brushes to the cat corner so other
volunteers can use them.
-If you take a dog out, please keep it on a short, tight leash when you
walk it through the building. You may let them have the full length of the
leash when they are outside.

A huge Thank you goes to everyone that came out while it was snowing, and
while we had the really cold spell. The dogs enjoyed getting out for a
quick walk, and the cats enjoyed the attention. Your dedication in the bad
weather is really appreciated!

Thanks for taking the time to volunteer for the shelter, and please let me
know if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas!
