Agenda

I.        Board of Directors Election

Candidates

Justina Koehler, DVM (Champaign, 2nd term)

I am excited for the opportunity to serve on the board of directors for a second term for the Champaign County Humane Society.

I have been a Champaign County resident for many years and work as a private practice veterinarian at The Animal Hospital at the Crossing.

I love the opportunity to make a difference in each animals life, especially in a shelter setting as well as being involved in the community. I have enjoyed my time on the board over the past three years. I have also enjoyed being able to donate my time as a veterinarian to the shelter when needed.

It is an honor to be reconsidered for a position on the board of such an important organization.

Michael Palazzolo, MD  (Mahomet; Returning, 1st Term)

I am a resident of Champaign County and a physician at Christie Clinic for almost 30 years.  As a pediatrician my purpose is to care for children.  Several years ago while doing leadership training I discovered that caring for children included caring for the furry and four legged children as well.

My family and I supported the Champaign County Humane Society as volunteers.  I have also served on the board of directors for six years.

We also have multiple pets at home including 3 rescue cats, 3 dogs and 19 outdoor barn cats that wander our 5 acres in Mahomet.

I am excited to have the opportunity to serve on the board of directors again at the Champaign County Humane Society.  I look forward to working with the current board to provide care and shelter for animals of our community.

Mark Pelafos  (Champaign, 1st Term)

I am thrilled to be considered to serve on the board of directors for the Champaign County Humane Society.  As part of the Worden Martin Incorporated Automotive Group, I have supported this organization’s mission through donations in the past and look forward to finding new ways to improve the lives of the animals in our community.

As a dog-dad to two, I know what pets bring to a family.  Our furry family members teach us life lessons about caring for others, responsibility, and the importance of home, every day.

I hope to have the opportunity to work with this board to further educate my hometown and the surrounding communities about how to care for the animals in their lives, and the kind of services CCHS steps in to provide for those who haven’t yet found their forever family.  It is a noble goal, and one I am ready to work toward.
