Meet Cupcake!

Even though she is only a year old, Cupcake has a rather big story to tell, and we'd like to share it with you.

She is a spunky 1-year old pit bull-mix. Cupcake loves to snuggle, play fetch out in the yard, and play with (and sometimes destroy) squeaky toys. She is also sweet and cuddly.  But Cupcake was not such a happy camper when we first met her.

In February, Cupcake arrived at the shelter in rough shape. She was suffering from a severe infection that resulted in the loss of her right front leg. The ordeal of her illness, surgery, and change in surroundings was difficult, as it would be for any dog. But Cupcake is as tough as she is cuddly. She refused to let the surgery slow her down.

Cupcake bounced back quickly and recovered well. She has regained her energy and adjusted to getting around on three legs. She loves nothing more than being around people and other dogs. After everything she has been through, she is still one of the sweetest and most loving dogs you could ask for!

Cupcake’s experience was difficult and traumatic. But thanks to our donors, Cupcake’s story is one of hope. It's through the generosity of donors that Cupcake got the lifesaving procedure she needed, and the medical care and supervision to aid her recovery.

Donations provided Cupcake comfort and safety during the most difficult time in her life, and it is through your generosity that we were able to find her a loving home.

We first featured Cupcake in a letter we sent in April. By the end of the week, we were flooded with adoption inquiries for her!

We are thrilled to report that Cupcake has gone home.

Cupcake’s story is unique, but her needs are not. Every year, over fifteen hundred animals come through the shelter in need of treatment, care, and help finding a new home.
