This lovable trio of Pomsky-Terrier mixes have been at CCHS since June
by Elizabeth Young
Sometimes, life changes fast. Families bring pets to us in devastating circumstances, and we are grateful to be here to help them, and the animals who need love and care. Financial and housing challenges brought Miracle, Holiday, and Tygren to the shelter in June 2025, and while we saw the dogs' confusion at the sudden changes, we hoped they'd find homes quickly. They were shy, but their bright smiles and fluffy snuggles seemed sure to attract new families. Yet over six months later, this trio is still here, still waiting, and still hoping for new families.
Why? Because for some pets, trust takes time. When their environment and routines change suddenly, even confident dogs can become cautious. It's understandable; living in a home is nothing like living in a shelter. It can take a little consistency to earn the love and trust of some animals, and we've seen that be true for these siblings. As we've gotten to know them over the months, we've seen their confidence grow and their personalities emerge. Over time their circles of trusted humans expanded, and staff and volunteers alike have fallen in love.
We hope you'll take this time to get to know Tygren, Holiday, and Miracle. They've been waiting for someone like you!
TygrenTygren is a Volunteer Favorite
Michelle says: "Tygren is filled with lots of happy energy, is a little mischievous and has an abundance of love to give. This is a dog that once couldn’t be coaxed out of his kennel, now I fight off the kisses!!
I love taking him out for walks that are filled with hops, skips and spins."
HolidayUpdate 12/29/25: Holiday has been adopted!
Holiday is looking for her home
Sarah says: "Holiday is super fun and loves to play. Like her siblings, she's definitely slow to warm up. She can be hard to leash up the first time, but once she knows you're there to walk she's happy to get on leash, and is loose, wiggly, and happy.
Plus, Holiday's super cute!"
MiracleMiracle is a Staff Favorite
Maiah says: "The once very scared Miracle had opened up to giving endless kisses, endless playtime, and she's got a personality out of this world. I don't think there's anything more rewarding than seeing that curly tail go wild once you come in to do walks [with her]."
We are so grateful to have the support of this community. Without your gifts, we would not be able to give pets like Holiday, Miracle, and Tygren the time and love they need, and deserve! We are proud to be an independent nonprofit, serving this community for over 70 years. We are not part of a larger animal welfare nonprofit, and we are not a government agency.
Help us give pets their best chance at a family, with a holiday season gift.
