Often, "Happy Tails" is a place where we celebrate pets who have recently found homes, and all of the potential these animals have for their life with their new family. Stitch found his people in 2021, but when they reached out to share that he passed away, we knew that his last few years with them was a happy ending that we wanted to share with you.
Stitch came to CCHS because he wasn't getting along with another guinea pig and needed to find a solo home, but it was clear that the relinquishing family cared for him.
On his intake form, they wrote: "Kiss your lips together loudly to make him squeak. Please make sure he gets a great home because he deserves it-Thanks for everything, please take good care of him"
We were so happy to be able to share that with his adopting family, and we hope his relinquishing family knows that Stitch was well take care of, and very much loved in his forever home.
That was evident when they wrote to us celebrating his favorite things, like wheat grass and acorn squash, and the music of Animal Crossing's K.K. Slider.
We're sorry for their loss, and we thank them for being Stitch's family.
His owners shared, "Stitch really enjoyed being cradled in his owner's armpit, where he would stretch out his legs and take a nap. His other favorite spot was under the dresser, where he cuddled with his favorite blanket." They included photos of both favorite cuddle spots, as well as photos of him enjoying snacks. The family added, "All it took was a cute glance and that was enough to manipulate us into giving him a treat. Sometimes, Stitch would feign disinterest in a veggie so we'd scramble and give him a different one. Later, we'd find he just ate both. So, I've been outsmarted by a guinea pig."
We appreciate that they shared these memories with us, and we wanted to share them with others. It was also great to see Stitch, since we'd last seen him in his profile photos!
Quite the model, here are some photos of Stitch the guinea pig, happy in his home:
