Submit an Event

If your event is not a fundraiser, and you are seeking Champaign County Humane Society participation in an educational or community event, please click here to see our information on inviting a Humane Educator, or email our Event Coordinator with questions.

We love that you want to host an event to benefit the Champaign County Humane Society (CCHS)!  We are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and do not receive any government funding or funds from national animal welfare nonprofits.  The animals we shelter depend on the support of caring individuals, like you!  No matter how big or small your event, proceeds from your fundraising event will make a difference in the lives of animals. At events, what matters to us is transparency, and, of course, helping homeless pets!

Please tell us all about your planned fundraiser here! We always want to know about your efforts so we can:

  1.  Share any the resources you need to be successful
  2. Help you avoid conflicts with events already planned or existing obligations of CCHS staff
  3. Help you publicize the fundraiser to our friends
  4. Thank you and your donors properly!

Most importantly, we need to give fundraisers the event guidelines. It might seem like a lot of information, but these guidelines help both of us stay transparent to donors, in compliance with laws and regulations, and fair to our fundraising friends. Because it's important for us to share our fundraising ethics with you, we require all fundraisers to review and agree to event guidelines before using our name or logo in any promotion.

Here is a summary of the most important points:

  • Third-party Fundraisers (you) are solely responsible for obtaining any necessary permits, licenses, or permissions, and ensuring the event complies with all applicable laws.
  • You must clearly state in all marketing the portion or percentage of revenue which will benefit CCHS. We are always grateful for your time, effort, and funding to support the shelter, and we also believe donors deserve to know how much they're giving directly to pets!
  • CCHS cannot provide funding for third-party fundraisers. We cannot guarantee the time and involvement of staff or volunteers, but we are happy to provide them if we have the capacity!
  • Events are added to the CCHS online event calendar if they're open to the public and in compliance with these third-party event guidelines.
  • Providing additional publicity, such as by social media or our newsletters, is at the discretion of CCHS.
  • To be considered for an animal appearance, fundraisers will pledge a minimum donation amount of $500 from their organization or the event.
Please note: CCHS can never guarantee that animals will be able to attend events. The welfare of our animal residents is always our top priority and decisions to bring pets to events off-site are made on a near-term, case-by-case basis. If we are unable to provide an animal appearance, fundraisers will not be held to any pledges.
  • If you want to accept credit cards or digital wallets for donations, we will provide you with an online platform to use.
  • Let us stretch your generosity as far as possible! Do not use cash from fundraiser proceeds to purchase items for the shelter, even if you are holding a supply drive. Our organization has relationships with suppliers, sales tax exemption, and other tools that make every donated dollar work hard. Please give any cash you collected to us as is.

Submitting this form is not an agreement to uphold these guidelines, so please share your event information even if you have remaining questions about policies. However, please do not begin advertising until you are granted permission to use our name or logo, which will involve discussing these guidelines. Depending on the size and nature of your proposed fundraiser, you might be sent the full text of these fundraising guidelines as an agreement for your signature. We appreciate your support and enthusiasm for fundraising!

From all the pets and people at CCHS: thank you!

Events and fundraisers help spread the word about our mission to make the pets of this community healthy and in happy homes.

Please note again: fundraisers who do not comply with our guidelines do not have permission to use our name and logo in promotion. Permission to publish our organization's name and logo will be immediately revoked if a fundraiser is found to have violated any of the agreed upon guidelines. We are grateful for everyone's desire to support homeless pets with a fundraiser, and we provide the practices and tools to do so ethically.

Send any questions to our event coordinator, Elizabeth Young, elizabeth@cuhumane.org.
