As a Charity Running Partner of the race, we're proud to participate in this local tradition. Every year, the race provides the opportunity to gather support for homeless pets in need. Learn more about how to save on your race registration, and support a cause you love at the same time, below!

Volunteer on the course and earn $25 for CCHS

Supporting the shelter as a volunteer is a vital way to contribute to our community, the race weekend, and the mission of CCHS. The race organization relies on people who can block off the course to make it safe for runners, so they offer $25 donations to our shelter whenever you give your time on the course
For every "course" volunteer position filled on behalf of our organization, Illinois Race Weekend will donate $25 to CCHS. Commit to a shift on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday (or all three!), and for every position you fill, you'll be giving food, shelter, and love to the pets at CCHS. You don't need to be an existing volunteer to support volunteer at the race on behalf of CCHS, you just need to sign up for the date, time, and location that is convenient for you, and attend an online orientation if you're new to the race. You can learn more about volunteering and see all available shifts here. Every position you can fill will help out our friends at the race, but just FYI that only "course team positions" will earn donations for our shelter.
The most important step? As you're registering as a volunteer, they'll ask the question "Are you with a charity running partner?" Please select Champaign County Humane Society to make sure your time is being given to homeless animals in need. We hope to see you out on the course as a volunteer, or, importantly as a runner!

Once you've registered for your race, and started your fundraising page for CCHS, we'll stay in touch with more information on how you can engage your friends, family, and followers with our mission and make a difference in the lives of animals throughout Champaign County.
After the race, dedicated team members raising at least $400 for pets will receive a hand-printed commemorative T-Shirt to thank them. The runner who raises the most will name a litter of our spring or summer kittens in 2027! It's just a small way we can say, "thank you for caring, and sharing the message!"
