Be an essential part of the evening
Every successful Fur Ball depends on dozens of volunteers working together behind the scenes and throughout the day. As our largest fundraising event of the year, it takes many helping hands to set up the venue, welcome guests, ensure auction winners get their prizes, and more.
One of the great things about this event is that Fur Ball volunteers do not need to be fully trained CCHS animal handlers! Anyone age 18 years or older who wants to lend a hand can find a role that fits their strengths, interests, and availability.
To make the evening a success, we will need help on four different "teams": Setup, Guest Experience, Check-in, and Close-out.
More information about each team's roles and responsibilities is below. Every volunteer role is vital to creating a fun and philanthropic experience for our community.
If you'd like to help make Fur Ball a success, please consider joining one of our volunteer teams. Reach out to Elizabeth, event coordinator, if you have questions or want to volunteer to join us on Friday, October 9, 2026 at the annual Fur Ball!
Fur Ball Committee
Good fit if you are outgoing and comfortable asking for donations directly.
The Fur Ball Committee meets throughout the weeks leading up to the event, performing vital work:
- Reaching area businesses to request auction donations
- Helping to guide the event activities and messaging
- Spreading the word about the event and the many different ways to give
Many, many thanks to this year's committee! We couldn't do it without you! If you're interested in becoming a committee member and guest of Fur Ball, please email Elizabeth.
Setup Team
Good fit if you like being behind the scenes, have an eye for making things look good, and like a variety of tasks.
Shift Times: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (but flexible! Come and go as you are able)
We have never had too many setup volunteers! The more hands the better. You might help with:
- Setting dinner tables with event materials
- Assembling backdrops and decor
- Displaying auction items and ensuring they have their signs
- Setting up "gala games" or other activities
- and other tasks to prepare for the evening
Guest Experience Team
Good fit if you want to help guests have a great, high-energy evening
Shift Times: 4:15 PM - 9:15 PM
These volunteers will take a well-deserved break and enjoy dinner in the ballroom, with the rest of our guests.
We'll need at least three more volunteers to stay for this complete shift, including the after-dinner roles! You'll help create a fun and engaging experience by:
- Encouraging guests to participate in the evening
- Assisting guests with event directions, or with locating additonal information
- After Dinner: Record auction winners and track donations
Check-in Team
Good fit if you're comfortable learning new software and being one of the first friendly faces guests will see.
Shift Times: 4:30 PM - 7:15 PM
This is a role that needs six volunteers. The job includes:
- Adding payment and contact information to guest profiles
- Confirming arrivals and registrations
- Welcoming guests and directing them into the event
*Volunteers available to join both the check-in and the close-out teams will take a well-deserved break and enjoy dinner in the ballroom, with the rest of our guests.
Close-out Team
Good fit if you like staying busy, don't mind a little organized chaos, and can handle a few moving pieces... literally and figuratively :)
Shift Times: 7:45 PM - 10:00 PM
The more the merrier at checkout, but we will need at least six volunteers to make the end of the evening run smoothly. This team will be:
- Packaging auction items for pickup
- Repacking event materials, displays, and frames
- Staffing checkout stations and closing guest carts (4+ people)
- Offering to carry items to the winner's vehicle (2+ people)
*Volunteers available to join both the check-in and the close-out teams will take a well-deserved break and enjoy dinner in the ballroom, with the rest of our guests.
